Our Baking journey:

Not all who wander are lost
J.J.R. Tolkin

Relocating to Carradale from France was the best thing we ever did, and whilst semi-retired the desire (and fun) of baking hasn’t disappeared.

We ran a very happy bakery in the ‘Lot’ area of France. Met many (now) lifelong friends, had many tales to tell and survived weather from -10°C to +40°C, starting before 5am and working til we dropped. We opted for a simpler life, and our business ‘British Bakery France’, is now in new safe hands, down in Antibes.

Let us be clear, our pasties are not Scottish Bridies, they are true to Cornish type pasties. Interestingly Alans ‘Grandma Lil’, was the pie maker for Hodgson’s Butchers in Keswick, and with a muddle of skills in Europe and southern England, Maxine baked her way to Cornwall. Owning bakeries in Truro and Perranporth Maxine can tell quite a story behind learning the true pasty making skill, from a multi generational Cornish pasty maker (from her quirky cake bakery)!

An important note. As Cornish pasties have PGI status, and even though made to the true Cornish recipe and construction, we cannot call them Cornish Pasties, however they are a Real Pasty!
The fillings are humble, generous, well seasoned and straight from our oven, ready to eat. They are ideal hot or cold, and suitable for home freezing.

We freshly bake in Carradale from scratch usually once or twice a month, with pick up points for pre-orders on baking days. We decided to commit to one item of excellence so therefore we only make pasties, NO other pies, biscuits, sausage rolls, cakes or bakes.

There is a Facebook page for ‘Real Pasty Company’ which has more information, so please follow us (link below).
